Naperville Magazine: Suburban Cowboy—Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille

Despite its Texas roots, the vibe at Perry’s is more Vegas chic than spurs-and-lassos, with sleek modern lighting fixtures and rich leather appointments throughout the lively dining area and adjacent Bar 79. Even on a run-of-the-mill Tuesday night, the room was crowded and boisterous well before 7 p.m., suggesting that amid the glut of high-end restaurants now competing for diners’ attention at Oakbrook Center, Perry’s was making an early connection with Midwestern sensibilities and appetites.

As is customary in this genre, and at this price point, service was nothing short of impeccable, with our waiter always at the ready to help us navigate the massive wine list or talk us through some of the noteworthy menu items. Two of these items, the symphony kabobs featuring either several cuts of beef or seafood selections suspended on a wire hanging from a tabletop harp-shaped frame, seemed to be popular throughout the room, with patrons in several nearby booths batting at their meals like curious kittens playing with knots in a shoestring.

Urban Swank: Imbibing with Perry’s Steakhouse & Belvedere Vodka

2014-05-19_1627

Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille has been a staple in the Houston community and beyond for quite some time. Although they are known for their steaks, you may not be aware of their extensive cocktail program, which is headed up by Perry’s sommelier and beverage director, Susi Zivanovic. Susi is always on the cutting edge of creating something divine and after speaking with her during a private tasting at Perry’s, I was intrigued by her ability to capture the essence of a cocktail by blending flavors that seemed simple, yet resulted in the perfect concoction.

Crain’s Chicago Business: Let’s do lunch in Oak Brook

2014-06-16_1350

Perry’s Steakhouse.: This is my favorite for lunch (available Fridays only). In the lounge everybody can see everybody, but you can still sit in a booth and be private. The atmosphere is lively and the service is really attentive but unobtrusive and professional.

When I go there for lunch it’s more about business. If I bring someone for happy hour it’s more social. The live pianist in the evening pushes the atmosphere to a higher level.

Houston Chronicle: Houston’s top picks for steakhouses

Old-school service with an attention to detail elevates the dining experience at this Texas-born upscale chain. The menu is old-school, too: seafood towers, wedge salads, creamed spinach and flaming desserts. Sunday dinner is an indulgence, as it should be. A tip: two can share the signature dish, an enormous pork chop carved tableside. There are six locations in the Houston area; to find the nearest, visit perryssteakhouse.com.

Review: Woodlands Villager

2014-05-06_1655

“Woodlands-area residents seeking upscale dining at reasonable prices are invited to drop by Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille.

The restaurant, located at 6700 Woodlands Parkway, offers signature steaks, grill items, drinks and other dishes amongst modern décor, featuring low-key lighting, occasional live music and private dining rooms that offer an intimate experience for customers.

Munns said items like Perry’s “Texas-sized” pork chop and lunch specials set the restaurant apart from other competitors. Every Friday, customers can enjoy a lunch-sized portion of the pork chop for $11.95 which comes with whipped potatoes and homemade apple sauce. The dinner portion is double the size of the lunch portion at about 26 to 30 ounces.

Munns said Perry’s continues to support The Woodlands community groups and guests, and recently partnered with Carlton Woods for a benefit dinner. As long as its doors remain open in The Woodlands, Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille will continue offering affordable and modern dining while also giving back to those that matter most.

“Being family-owned really lends you to wanting to stay in the community and support it in any way we can,” Munns said.”

Restaurant Development + Design: Perry’s Brings Texas Steakhouse Swank to Illinois

Houston-based Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille has opened its first unit outside of Texas, in the Chicago suburb of Oak Brook, Ill.

Built by Elmhurst, Ill.-based contractor ICI, the 11,000-square-foot restaurant sits adjacent to Neiman Marcus in the Oakbrook Center upscale shopping and dining mall. It provides seating for up to 350 guests and includes five private dining rooms that seat from eight to 80 guests, and patio seating for seasonal outdoor dining—complete with outdoor fireplace.

Design features in the main dining room include a towering wine wall that holds more than 2,000 bottles, dramatic lighting, a view into the exposed kitchen, and touches of amber, red and cobalt blue throughout. The restaurant’s bar area, named Bar 79, is island-style and offers live music Monday-Thursday evenings. Of the Oak Brook unit’s design vision, the company says, “By incorporating light, airy, modern touches to the various dining areas, Perry’s creates an environment that appeals to both men and women and whisks away the notion of a traditional stuffy steakhouse.”
